Commemorative banknote of G. J. Mendel received the Nobel Prize

An international conference in honour of the 200th anniversary of Gregor Johann Mendel's birth was inaugurated at the Augustinian Abbey in Brno. As a partner of the entire Mendel Festival, ČESKÉ DUKATES officially presented a new commemorative print with a portrait of this important naturalist. Among the current contributors in the field of genetics who came to the conference are Nobel Prize winners, Professors Thomas Cech and Paul Nurse. They received the commemorative print in the stunning surroundings of the monastery library, where they also viewed the valuable manuscript of G. J. Mendel, in which he summarised the results of his experiments. The motifs of this manuscript were, in fact, incorporated by the graphic designer Rudolf Cigánik into his design of the Mendel commemorative print.
The Mendel commemorative print will be available for viewing and purchase during the festival, which will take place near the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Saturday.
